Can Your Wishes Come True If You Think About Nothing? In the World of Manifestation, Even Effort Is No Longer Necessary

There is something in this world called the “law of attraction.”

The idea is that if you vividly imagine the future you desire, it will eventually become reality.

You repeat affirmations every day, picture your ideal life, and do whatever it takes to impress your wishes upon your subconscious mind.

Recently, however, an even more advanced method has apparently emerged.

Think about nothing.

There is no need to imagine your desire. You do not even have to consider what you want to achieve. Simply hand everything over to your subconscious mind.

The subconscious will then attract the best possible result on its own.

Wonderful.

Humanity has finally eliminated not only effort, but even the trouble of deciding what to wish for.

All that remains is to wait for money to appear in your bank account.

Is That Not Simply Zen Meditation?

The first thing this reminded me of was Buddhist Zen meditation.

Do not think about unnecessary things. Let go of the stray thoughts in your mind. Instead of being controlled by thought, direct your awareness to the present moment.

It sounds similar to Zen or meditation.

There is, however, one decisive difference.

Buddhism teaches that desire and attachment are precisely what create suffering.

I want money. I want success. I want other people to recognize me.

We suffer because such desires control us, so Buddhism tells us to release our attachment to them.

Manifestation through stopping thought takes a different position.

It says that if you release a desire, the desire will be fulfilled.

Let go of your attachment to money, and money will arrive. Let go of your attachment to finding a partner, and a partner will appear.

The Buddhist philosophy of non-attachment, taught over thousands of years, has somehow changed careers and become a manifestation technique.

Even the Buddha would be surprised.

The Mysterious Theory That Giving Up Desire Fulfills Desire

To begin with, there is a fundamental contradiction here.

You are supposed to release your attachment to a wish in order to make that wish come true.

But if you expect the wish to come true, does that not mean the attachment remains?

“I do not want money at all. So please give me ¥100 million—about $667,000.”

Can that really be called freedom from desire?

More interesting still is the idea that even the content of the wish should be left to the subconscious.

If a person does not know what they want, how is the subconscious supposed to determine the correct answer?

The subconscious is not an omnipotent being that automatically fulfills wishes in the first place.

The fact that unconscious processes influence human judgment and behavior is entirely different from reality conveniently changing when you stop thinking.

Somewhere along the way, the subconscious has become an all-purpose secretary responsible for accepting wishes, evaluating them, and carrying them out.

Apparently, it does not even require a salary.

There Is Actually Value in Thinking About Nothing

That said, reducing the stray thoughts in your mind is not a bad idea in itself.

Human beings think too much about unnecessary things.

What if I fail? What if people dislike me? What will happen in the future?

Thinking endlessly about such things will naturally exhaust you.

Meditation can be expected to provide some benefit by creating distance from these thoughts.

With less anxiety, you can make calmer decisions. Once unnecessary tension disappears, it becomes easier to use your real abilities.

As a result, work and relationships may indeed improve.

But that does not mean a supernatural force was at work.

It simply means that you became able to act appropriately without needless anxiety getting in the way.

In the world of manifestation, however, this explanation is apparently not satisfying enough.

“If you calm your mind, you can handle situations more effectively.”

That sounds far too ordinary.

“If you stop thinking, the universe will deliver the best possible reality to you.”

That sounds much more inspiring.

And it probably sells more books.

The Commercial Power of “You Do Not Have to Do Anything”

When you think about it, it is easy to understand why ideas like this become popular.

People want money but do not want to work. They want success but do not want to fail.

Anyone would want to know about a method that fulfills wishes without effort.

This method is even easier than the traditional law of attraction.

There is no need to write down your wishes. There is no need to imagine your ideal future.

You merely have to stop thinking.

The problem comes when it does not work.

“You have not truly stopped thinking yet.”

“You remain unconsciously attached.”

“Your wish is not coming true because you expect a result.”

I see. Apparently, the reason the wish failed lies within the believer’s own mind.

That ensures the theory itself can never be wrong.

If you succeed, the method deserves the credit. If you fail, your attachment is to blame.

It is an impressively complete system.

So Will Money Arrive If You Think About Nothing?

There is nothing wrong with sitting in meditation and calming the mind.

I also believe that time spent without unnecessary thoughts is valuable.

I simply do not believe that it will increase the balance in my bank account.

If money truly arrived merely because people sat around thinking about nothing, the world would have no workers left.

And the people teaching this method would have no need to go to the trouble of writing books or publishing videos.

They could simply sit there thinking about nothing while royalties and advertising revenue arrived automatically.
